ABOVE: Gramercy Green’s own fitness center
Last night I had a dream about my first day in NYU Housing’s Gramercy Green.
I was exploring other residents’ rooms. Then I decided to buy a headboard. One corner room on the penthouse floor had set up a disco ball and neat window seats. I kept insisting that I was one floor beneath PH, which DreamMoods explains:
To dream that you are in a penthouse, represents the creative and spiritual aspect of yourself. You are looking a life from a new perspective and accessing your highest potential.
And then I woke up.
We get up early just to start cranking the generator,
Our limbs have been asleep, we need to get the blood back in ‘em,
We’re finding every day, several ways that we can be friends
We keep on churning and the lights inside the house turn on
Eh (x15)
And in our native language we are chantin’ ancient songs
Then when we quiet down, the house chants on without us.

Canton’s new ShopRite opened Wednesday at 9am. So I visited.
Many people don’t realize that the transition was intentional. Shaw’s sold all of its Connecticut stores to ShopRite (and a few to Stop & Shop). The change was pretty seamless; many Shaw’s employees are now ShopRite associates and the general layout of the store has been maintained for convenience.
Though I associate the ShopRite brand with Price Chopper and other “budget-conscious” supermarkets, the new store felt just as luxurious as other competing food markets. They’ve replaced the orange and green colors with warm browns, wood accents, and reds. It feels really nice inside… except for the elevator music. I nearly fell asleep.
And if anyone cares, they had a really awesome seafood section.
